Best British Pubs and Shops in Santa Monica
My husband is British, which means he loves nothing more than sitting at the pub after work drinking some pints with friends. And thankfully we live in Santa Monica, where an English pub is about as common as a Starbucks.
Santa Monica's "little Britain" is a large and lively community of over 5,000 British expats who not only want, but need places they can grab a cup of tea or catch the occasional Manchester United game. So, my husband says, "why not enjoy those things in sunny Santa Monica rather than dreary Ye Olde England."
Since marrying my husband, I have become an honorary Brit by not only eating and drinking at the places below on a weekly basis - but also shopping at their great shops as well. Check them out and let me know what you think.
Ye Olde King's Head
The Ye Olde King's Head as been around since 1974 and offers not only great food and drinks, but also karaoke, darts, comedy and quiz nights, High Tea on Saturdays and all the live British football and rugby games you want - and yes, that does mean at six or seven in the morning if need be. King's Head also takes its holidays very seriously by celebrating British New Year at 4pm every year with noise makers, streamers, party hats and a bagpiper. Walk next door to check out not only seasonal gifts like Christmas crackers and Canterbury eggs, but also the finest products from the British Isle.
The Ye Olde King's Head is a great place to grab a pint, watch a game, or simply hang out with friends. And if you go there long enough, they will definitely know your name and what you are drinking before you even sit down on a bar stool - Thanks Raegan.
*Tip - If the front bar is too crowded for you, check out the back bar known as the "Snug Bar" to chit chat with British locals and friendly waitstaff.

Tudor House has been serving lunch and afternoon tea in Santa Monica for over forty years, and is probably one of the best known tearooms in California. They have imported teas, fresh baked scones, sausage rolls, quiches, meat and veggie pies that they serve daily. They also have traditional favorites like Christmas mince pies and cakes you can order and give as gifts.
The Tudor House also has a private room across from the dining room that is the perfect setting for bridal or baby showers, birthday parties or Mother's Day tea. And if you just can't get to the store or tea room in Santa Monica, you can always order your favorite biscuits or beverages online. This family-friendly restaurant is a definite must to check out.
